Quad-Cities Marathon Report – September 24, 2001

Sunday, September 23 was a rainy, cool day in the Quad-cities area. However, the weather did not daunt several thousand runners from taking to the streets to compete in the 4th Annual Quad-cities Marathon, Half-marathon, and 5K. I was among the marathon runners. Although it rained a good majority of the time I was pounding the pavement, I still managed a new marathon PR of 3:15:59 (2 minutes and 11 seconds faster than 3 weeks ago at the Heart of America Marathon in Columbia, MO).

A special thanks to Mike Hafner of Bettendorf, IA who ran with me the last 5 miles and encouraged me on to a new PR. Kudos, also, to all who had anything to do with putting the race together – it was a super job!

Congratulations to all finishers of the Quad-cities Marathon!
