Barefoot Rick's Mud & Muck Fun Run Report - August 28, 2010

Proverbs 4:12 - When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; and if you run, you will not stumble.

This is certainly a "race" where you don't want to take yourself too seriously. Especially if you're running barefoot. It had been several years since I had ran the gravel roads and trails out at Unity Village in Lee's Summit Missouri. My recollection was that it was mostly pea-sized gravel. No big deal. However, when we took off down the hill and into the woods along the road, most of it turned out to be large gravel most of the 2.8 miles. Nevertheless, I continued on (barefooted of course) until we reached the mud pit at about the 2.5 mile mark. This is where the fun started. The nearly waist deep pit of watery mud was traversed by some wading, others swimming, and others like myself doing all of the previous along with a back stroke or two! What fun!

Below are some pics from last year's mud pit!

And here is a pic about a half hour after I finished! (The mud had already begun to harden)

I finished 3rd in my age group (out of 6! Ha!)
