16th Annual Sprint Thanksgiving Day 5K - November 24, 2005

What a beautiful morning in the Kansas City area as several thousand lined up for the 16th annual Sprint Thanksgiving Day 5K! The sun was shining on a predicted morning of clouds and the temps were in the mid-30s. Got a chance to talk to lots of people I know. Some I saw at last Sunday's Gobbler Grind Marathon.

I was still feeling the affects from Sunday's marathon, so I decided to take it easy today and just go have some fun. Sporting my Santa hat, I got the chance to converse with several runners along the course.

The last mile is downhill so I tried to make up for the previous two miles which were about 7.5 minute pace. Think I was doing about a 6:30 on the final mile.

Crossed the finish line with a 22:23 -- a 7:13 pace. Not bad since I was still a little sore from Sunday's race. Following the race, went and ran an additional 3 miles cause it just felt good!
