2nd Annual Polar Barefoot Fun Run - January 1, 2006
For the second year in a row, the Polar Barefoot Fun Run at Longview Lake in Kansas City Missouri has NOT lived up to its name. Don't get me wrong! It was as much or more fun than last years inaugural event. It was the weather, again! Polar Bears would have been sweltering in the unseasonable 50 degree weather for our noon event. Maybe that's why only three of us showed up this year. Hmmm ... maybe the other four people that had RSVPed were disappointed that it was not sub-freezing with snow on the ground??? Nonetheless, Barefoot Barton Reese (who joined me last year), Barefoot Randy Moore and myself made it a threesome for a warm one mile run along the Longview Lake bike trail. (Hey ... I was happy that three of us were there ... that's 50% better attendance than last year's run!)
The Three Barefoot Amigos (L to R - Barefoot Rick Roeber, Barefoot Randy Moore, and Barefoot Barton Reese)
Hmmm .... Looks like I may need to get a few more bumper stickers!
The after-run spoils ... Barefoot Rick's black-eyed peas and ham, hot chocolate and coffee!
